Rapid Rentals and Sales Participates in the ARA Rental Pulse of Caucus on Capitol Hill
The American Rental Association (ARA) held its National Legislative Caucus in Washington, D.C., March 28-30, 2023. The event brought together nearly 60 ARA members from Region Three and Region Seven to meet with their elected officials and discuss the issues and concerns of the equipment and event rental industry.
ARA members met with members of the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives and their staff members to discuss four key industry issues:
- Workforce development: ARA members expressed concern about the shortage of skilled workers in the equipment and event rental industry. They urged lawmakers to support programs that would help to train and develop new workers for the industry.
- H-2B visas: ARA members also discussed the need for more H-2B visas, which allow employers to hire temporary foreign workers for seasonal or specialty occupations. They argued that the current H-2B visa cap is too low and is preventing the industry from hiring the workers it needs.
- Tax policy: ARA members also expressed concern about the impact of recent tax changes on the equipment and event rental industry. They urged lawmakers to make changes to the tax code that would make it more affordable for businesses to invest in new equipment and hire new employees.
- Catalytic converter theft: ARA members also discussed the growing problem of catalytic converter theft. They urged lawmakers to pass legislation that would make it more difficult for thieves to sell stolen catalytic converters.
The meetings were a positive experience for ARA members, who were able to raise awareness of the industry’s concerns and build relationships with lawmakers and staff members. ARA will continue to work with lawmakers to address the issues that are important to the equipment and event rental industry.
In addition to the meetings on Capitol Hill, ARA members also had the opportunity to attend a variety of networking events during the Caucus. These events provided members with the chance to meet new people, learn about new products and services, and share ideas with other industry professionals.
